... and lead us not into temptation!

China's new helicopters for on-board use

After the navalised Z-20J variant of the Chinese transport and multi-role helicopter Harbin Z-20 was presented to the public at the Zuhai Airshow in November 2024, this flight type was already shown on board the amphibious assault carrier "Hainan" (Type 75, 237 metres, 31,000 tonnes) during on-board operations in the Chinese media in mid-2025. The Z-20J extends the amphibious capabilities of the PLA-N and makes up for a backlog of twenty years. Another variant, the Z-20F, is designed for...

German seaports hope for prioritisation

Now that Europe and Germany are massively increasing their defence spending, the Central Association of German Seaport Operators (ZDS) is calling for some of the funds from the special infrastructure and climate neutrality fund to be used for both expansion and protection against potential military attacks. In a letter to Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, it is emphasised that ports are of crucial importance for military logistics in the event of tension and defence and are therefore prime targets for attack. It is not only in the event of war that material and personnel from the Bundeswehr and NATO partners are transported via the seaports. It is therefore an important first step, but by no means sufficient, that the...
