India authorises submarine construction with TKMS

Following a delay in the 75 India project, the central government in New Delhi has now authorised negotiations on the construction of submarines in cooperation with Germany. The Indo-German submarine deal is worth around €7 billion and includes six modern submarines based on the Class 214 (72 metres long), which will be built in India. According to the Times of India, Spanish competitor Navantia with its S-80 design was the last bidder to be eliminated. Quadriga/Northern Coast 2025 - Protection of merchant ships

The world's oceans are the lifelines of trade in goods. Over 90 per cent of global trade takes place by sea. The world and not least Germany are dependent on maritime trade. The paint is off

Seen several times: the colour of the fleet service boat Oker is not right. In the picture that has been circulating in some northern German newspapers, you can see how the paint is peeling off. No, it's not camouflage, it's not a Photoshop gag, and no: nobody has tried to paint the silhouette of Eckernförde on the hull. The current livery has not been copied from the patrol boats of the Royal Navy or frigates of the Royal Canadian Navy, and no: it is also not a "camouflage scheme" to prevent/disable optical recognition by enemy forces, as was attempted in the days of the Kaiser. It is also not a turpentine-filled ammunition firing scheme, it is...

Canada places its coast guard under the Ministry of Defence

The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) and several other elements have been separated from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and officially integrated into Canada's national defence structure. This transition is intended to incorporate the Coast Guard's maritime experience into Canada's overall defence planning, as the Canadian government announced in a statement. The integration is intended to improve information sharing and coordination between the CCG, the Canadian Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), which has resulted in some adjustments to the CCG's tasks and direction. There are currently no plans to arm the CCG's personnel or resources or to assign additional law enforcement responsibilities to the organisation....
