The accident occurred on Monday in the South China Sea. The F-35 pilot was injured but is in a stable condition, the Navy announced. He was ejected from the aircraft after the failed landing on the deck of the "Carl Vinson". Six other crew members were also injured. On Friday, 21 January 2021 at 10 a.m., the minehunting boat "Bad Bevensen" will leave its home port of Kiel. After a break due to the coronavirus, the Kiel-based boat is now heading for Bornholm to join other boats from the NATO Standing Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG 1). All crew members who contracted the coronavirus before Christmas have recovered and can go to sea with their mates as planned.
