Northrop Grumman entwickelt selbststeuernde Munition für das Mk 110. Wie am 4. Oktober gemeldet wurde, hat die US Navy der Firma Northrop Grumman den Entwicklungsauftrag für eine neue 57-Millimeter-Lenkmunitionsvariante erteilt. Das Unternehmen legte die technischen Grundlagen der Munition bereits in Eigeninitiative. Der nun vergebene Auftrag dient der Entwicklung bis zur Serienreife und der damit verbundenen Erprobung. Die neuen Granaten sind für den Einsatz durch das Deckgeschütz Mk 110 vorgesehen, das derzeit auf den Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) der Navy eingesetzt wird. The Armada currently has eleven frigates: Six slightly modified replicas of the American OLIVER H. PERRY frigates of the SANTA MARIA class (F80, 138 metres, 4,000 tonnes) from the 1980s/90s and five frigates of the ALVARO DE BAZÁN class (F100, 146 metres, 6,200 tonnes, German-Dutch-Spanish design, built by Navantia) from 2002 to 2012.
