With the appointment of Rainer Siemers as the new head, the management of the Federal Maritime Coordination Centre will now lie with the Federal Police until 2025. It will rotate between the Federal Police and customs every three years. The Russian Ministry of Defence announced yesterday (12 April 2022) that the Grigorovich-class frigate "Admiral Essen" (Project 11356) had shot down a Ukrainian "Bayraktar" drone with its "Shtil" anti-aircraft missiles off the west coast of the island of Crimea. Die Statistik zur weltweiten Piraterie des International Maritime Bureau in London wird seit 1990 veröffentlicht. Sie ist das verlässlichste Barometer für aktuelle Entwicklungen, auch wenn es nicht alle Fälle erfasst. 2021 wurden dem IMB 132 Zwischenfälle gemeldet. Zum Vergleich: 2020 waren es 195, 2019 mit 162 einige weniger. Damit zeigen sich global betrachtet erfreuliche Entwicklungen. The ships of Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG1) and Standing NATO Mine Counter Measures Group 1 (SNMCMG1) completed their participation in the Norwegian-led multinational exercise Cold Response 22 on 1 April.
