Switzerland - MSC is the first shipping company to manage over 900 ships

The Geneva, Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is not only the largest shipping company, but is also the first to reach a fleet of over 900 ships. This milestone was reached with the delivery of the container ship MSC GERMANY (Neopanamax, 16,000 TEU). This was reported by the French analysis company Alphaliner. This new addition is equipped with LNG propulsion and is the fifth ship in a series of twelve that were ordered from a Chinese shipyard in October 2022. Change of course for the Zumwalt destroyers

However, as there is still a 30-year-old partial stock of three KDX-I destroyers, seven Ulsan frigates and 16 Pohang corvettes in the...

France's ears in the Baltic Sea

A few hundred metres past each other When the Russian corvette RFS "Stoikiy" (Steregushchiy class) "turned" into the Langelandbelt on Friday last week (we reported) after passing Fehmarn running north-west, the French reconnaissance vessel FS "Dupuy de Lome" (A 759), which was on the opposite course, had a convenient "found meal". The two ships met at the southern end of the island of Langeland at a distance of a few hundred metres. The modern reconnaissance platform, which entered service with the German Navy in 2006 and is 101 metres long and displaces 3,600 tonnes, only had to activate its sensors and hope to detect as many emissions of any kind as possible.

Hamburg - Hapag-Lloyd reports slump in shipments

Hapag-Lloyd customers have cancelled 30 per cent of shipments from China to the US because they were spooked by the trade conflict between the world's two largest economies, a spokesman for the German container shipping group said. Instead, there has been a "massive increase" in demand for products and shipments from Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, the spokesperson added. The tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on goods from China have triggered a trade conflict that had led to 145% US tariffs on Chinese goods and 125% Chinese tariffs on US goods. It remains to be seen whether the tariff agreement between China and the US that has now been reached will...
