Netherlands: Hull Vane trialled at HNLMS GRONINGEN

We have already reported twice here on the innovation of the small company Hull Vane BV, based in Wageningen in the Netherlands. In May 2023, the Hvide Sande shipyard on the west coast of Denmark handed over the first offshore patrol vessel (OPV) to the Danish Fisheries Agency. It was delivered with azimuth propulsion nacelles and in combination with a guide plate from Hull Vane under the stern. Denmark: Hull Vane for OPV NORDSØEN We already reported on the development and function of a Hull Vane, intended for a 108-metre-long and 3,800-tonne "Holland" class offshore patrol vessel (OPV), in February 2023. U.S. Navy - Training level lowered again

The US Navy had already lowered the test score requirements for new sailors to the lowest level permitted by law and is now cancelling a regulation from the year 2000 that required a secondary school diploma to join the Navy. Red Sea and EUNAVFOR Aspides: Frigate "Hessen" departs

The actual voyage to the operational area began with the manoeuvre whistle of the anti-aircraft frigate "Hessen" (F 221, class 124) in Wilhelmshaven's 4th entry shortly before ten o'clock. The frigate "Hessen" has been ordered to the Mediterranean by the naval command in order to be able to join the units of the EU Operation Aspides (Shield) immediately following the necessary parliamentary decision. Participation in this operation differs from participation in previous EU and NATO projects in that it fundamentally involves a "sharp call to arms".

The two standby and operational boats have been added to the twelve already existing and up to now...

Offshore wind farms - setting the course required

The European offshore wind sector is facing a Herculean task in order to build the necessary infrastructure to achieve the climate targets that have been set. This is shown by the results report presented in January 2024 by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E). The European Network ENTSO-E, based in Brussels, currently consists of 40 transmission system operators, represents 36 countries and is responsible for the secure and coordinated operation of the European electricity grid, the largest interconnected electricity grid in the world. Planning instrument With its Offshore Network Development Plan (ONDP), ENTSO-E is presenting a planning instrument for the first time and its ten-year network development plan shows how offshore and onshore developments are to be integrated,...
