At the end of 2022, there were over 80 gas discoveries off the Norwegian coast covering an estimated area of more than 1.2 billion square metres. Although many of these deposits have considerable value potential, it is highly uncertain how much natural gas can actually be extracted, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). On 14 December, the keel was laid for the first joint project of ABEKING & RASMUSSEN and FASSMER, a 105m hydrographic vessel.
Having recently successfully delivered two minehunting boats to the Indonesian navy, A&R was also awarded the
new construction of the hydrographic vessel. As the ship concept is based on a tried-and-tested design by FASSMER, the project was realised in the best possible way right from the start.
