Rolls-Royce delivers mtu engines totalling 300,000 hp for US sportfishing boats Rolls-Royce is apparently about to break the 300,000 hp mark in delivered power with the 10V, 12V and 16V models of the mtu Series 2000 M96. That's about 130 engines. RR is now the market leader in the US sportfishing business. Reliability from Friedrichshafen is therefore popular in the US market. Rolls-Royce exhibited its engines and gave an overview of its automation solutions for yachts, the mtu NautIQ Blue Vision NewGeneration yacht automation system and the mtu NautIQ Bridge, which made its American debut in Fort Lauderdale from 25 to 29 October.

ATLAS manufactures four drones for the minehunting boats The German Navy is receiving "SeaCat" underwater reconnaissance drones for its Class 332 minehunting boats, financed by the special fund for the Bundeswehr. Increase in piracy and incidents at sea

From a press release by the International Chamber of Commerce in Germany (ICC Germany) on the latest report of maritime piracy figures for 2023. In its new report for the period January to September 2023, the ICC's International Maritime Bureau (IMB) has noted an increase in reported incidents in the Gulf of Guinea and raised concerns about the Singapore Strait. The International Maritime Bureau of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) recorded a total of 99 incidents of piracy and armed robbery at sea in the first nine months of 2023 - an increase from 90 incidents in the same period in 2022. So far this year, 85 vessels have been reported...

Middle East: US destroyer intercepts Huthi militia cruise missile from Yemen

A little-noticed report from the US Department of Defence makes it alarmingly clear just how close to the powder keg the entire Middle East currently is: on 19 October 2023, the Pentagon reported the launch of three cruise missiles and eight drones launched from the north-west of Yemen and flying towards Israel by the Arleigh Burke destroyer USS "Carney" (DDG-64). The "Carney" had used its Standard Missile 2 (SM2) in defence against the cruise missiles and drones. There were no casualties or injuries, neither on US units nor on the ground.
