Watch out shipspotters! Shell construction on the Weser
The multi-purpose ship shell on its way from Klaipėda to the ABEKING & RASMUSSEN shipyard On Thursday morning (9 August 2023), the hull of the first, almost 105-metre-long new multi-purpose ship for the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) set sail from Klaipėda (Lithuania) as a tug and tow. The Kasko cannot yet sail under its own power - ABEKING & RASMUSSEN Schiffs- und Yachtwerft SE (A&R) in Lemwerder on the Weser in Lower Saxony is building the shell until it is ready for commissioning. Over the next few days, the newbuilding with shipyard construction number 6510 will be towed to Lemwerder via the Baltic Sea, the Kiel Canal, the Elbe and the Weser. In the Europe-wide competition...
