K 130: Second corvette of the second batch christened

On 4 May 2023, construction number 7 of the Braunschweig class was christened "Emden" by Ms Annette Lehnigk-Emden at the traditional Hamburg shipyard Blohm & Voss, which has belonged to Lürssen Defence since 2016 and is now part of the NVL Group. As a direct descendant of a crew member of the small cruiser "Emden" from the time of the First World War, Mrs Lehnigk-Emden bears the traditional name affix and has now also taken over the sponsorship of the naval vessel. All this can be read in the original article attached. Now "U-Boat Worx" has teamed up with the Italian design studio "Officina Amare" to design the interior - virtually for the time being, of course. The mezzanine deck located in the forward underwater hull offers plenty of cosy places with comfortable seating areas that can also be used in extended company.

Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov - after around Africa now in the Mediterranean

On the afternoon of 13 April 2023, the Russian frigate "Admiral Gorshkov" left the Suez Canal northwards with its support ship, the tanker "Kama". According to earlier Russian media reports, Tartus, Syria, is the next port of destination. Both units have been on a long-distance voyage since 4 January. This had a few surprises. From 17 to 26 February, the two Russian units took part in the trilateral exercise "Mosi II". At the invitation of South Africa, the host and three units of the Chinese navy practised with the Russian globetrotters on the east coast of South Africa. This was followed in mid-March by "Maritime Security Belt 23", a naval exercise organised by the Russian Federation, China and...
