Mürwik Naval Academy: Change of command at the "alma mater" of naval officers
Flotilla Admiral Wilhelm Tobias Abry hands over the reins of the MSM to Flotilla Admiral Jens Nemeyer. The handover will be carried out by Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhardt, Commander Support in Naval Command. Even though Flotilla Admiral Abry's time at the helm of the Naval Academy was shaped by the pandemic, he was able to sustainably strengthen training at sea and shape the maritime identity of the cadets - in short: colour the hearts of all officers and officer cadets blue. Abry is leaving the Officer School after more than three years and is now moving to the Naval Command in Rostock as Head of the Operations Subdivision. Einsatzgruppenversorger "Bonn" departed from Wilhelmshaven for Operation "Irini".

Gorch Fock in Wilhelmshaven
The Lürssen shipyard proudly announced at the weekend - and rightly so - that the Gorch Fock is back in service today. Under the leadership of the project team led by Sascha Eilers, more than 150 shipyard employees have been working flat out to ensure that the training sailing ship GORCH FOCK has been brought back into shape. Today, the Gorch Fock set sail for Wilhelmshaven and headed down the Weser towards Helgoland. Lürssen took over responsibility for the restoration of this ship in October 2019 and initially moved the barque to Berne. In the spring of this year, the ship was successfully launched and towed to Lemwerder for further outfitting with the help of tugs.

Contract awarded for the construction of U 212CD
Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems has been officially commissioned to build six Class 212CD submarines. The procurement organisations of Norway and Germany have already signed the corresponding contracts. The order comprises the delivery of four submarines to the Norwegian Navy and two to the German Navy as well as additional logistical services and training resources. The order is worth around 5.5 billion euros. The ceremony to mark the major order took place today (30 August) at the development and shipyard site in Kiel.
