NATO researches the protection of KRITIS

The defence research vessel ALLIANCE (A 5345), which belongs to the NATO research centre Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), was used to experimentally investigate methods for protecting underwater infrastructure in the Baltic Sea. To this end, scientists deployed state-of-the-art acoustic sensors off the Danish island of Bornholm and, for the first time since joining NATO, in Finnish and Swedish waters. The aim was to determine whether the sensors could help NATO allies to recognise acts of sabotage on underwater pipelines and data cables at an early stage and react quickly. DLR presents itself at the Science Mile in Bremerhaven

Hamburg - Shore power compulsory for cruise ships

The Port of Hamburg wants to be faster than the European Union. According to the Senator for Economic Affairs, Dr Melanie Leonhard (SPD), cruise ships will have to use the green shore power available in the port from 2027. In the EU, the regulation does not apply until 2030 and the obligation to use shore-side electricity applies to all ships that are technically capable of doing so.
