Lürssen sells naval shipbuilding to Rheinmetall

It has been a hot topic on the coast for weeks. It is not surprising that this decision has been made. The timing is also not necessarily sensational on a Monday morning in September 2025, as the market for naval shipbuilding is currently very dynamic and urgent. Negotiations have been going on since August. It is high time to establish a strong industrial position in Germany. Whether the culture of a Düsseldorf-based company focussing on a land-based portfolio can be reconciled with the coastal mindset is just an arabesque.

Navy instead of school desk

Week of Schools at Wilhelmshaven Naval Base The Bundeswehr Career Centre (KarrCBw) is inviting graduating classes to the "Week of Schools 2025" at Wilhelmshaven Naval Base from 16 to 18 September 2025. Around 470 pupils from ten schools will take part in the event. The Navy and other branches of the Bundeswehr will be presenting themselves to the participants from 9 a.m. onwards. India authorises submarine construction with TKMS

Following a delay in the 75 India project, the central government in New Delhi has now authorised negotiations on the construction of submarines in cooperation with Germany. The Indo-German submarine deal is worth around €7 billion and includes six modern submarines based on the Class 214 (72 metres long), which will be built in India. According to the Times of India, Spanish competitor Navantia with its S-80 design was the last bidder to be eliminated.
