Arne and the anchor

New suspicion of sabotage of critical infrastructure in the Baltic Sea: It seems to be a recurring theme that merchant ships in the Baltic Sea suddenly complain about the loss of anchors and anchor chains. This allegedly happened on 20 February 2025 when the freighter MV "Arne", coming from St. Petersburg, passed the Swedish islands of Gotland and Öland westbound.

After the Munich Security Conference: Associations call for a consistent industrial policy on defence equipment

On 20 February 2025, the Federal Association of the German Security and Defence Industry (BDSV) and the Federal Association of the German Aerospace Industry (BDLI) called for consistent investment in the production of goods for our security and defence industry. The Munich Security Conference impressively demonstrated that Europe must take more responsibility for its own security in the transatlantic burden-sharing process. This requires higher defence budgets as well as the political will for self-assertion and sovereignty. Above all, an industrial policy agenda in the area of defence policy must be launched that focuses on orders for domestic companies: Buy European. According to the presidents of the leading industry associations,...
