Tamsen Maritim builds new multi-purpose boats

Die Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 71 für Schiffe und Marinewaffen, Maritime Technologie und Forschung (WTD 71) in Eckernförde wird zwei neue STS Boote der Werft Tamsen Maritim aus Rostock erhalten. STS steht für die drei Hauptaufgaben Sicherung, Transport und Schleppen. Die Arbeitsboote ersetzen die Klasse 744 und werden der WTD 71 ab Ende 2022 zeitversetzt zulaufen. Vergeben wurde der Auftrag vom Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung (BAAINBw) nach einem europaweiten Vergabeverfahrens. Cologne, Emden, Karlsruhe, Augsburg, Lübeck - these are the traditional names of the second construction batch of five Brunswick-class corvettes, taken from the Bremen-class frigates. Unter dem Titel „Verbundenheit hat Meer verdient“ informierte der Freundeskreis Marineschiffe KÖLN 2017 in einer Broschüre die Öffentlichkeit über die von ihm mitunterstützte Entscheidung des damaligen Inspekteurs der Marine, Vizeadmiral Andreas Krause, die fünf neuen Korvetten des zweiten Loses der Klasse 130 nach den Städten AUGSBURG, EMDEN, KARLSRUHE, KÖLN und LÜBECK zu benennen. Diese Beibehaltung der fünf traditionsreichen Namen von Schiffen deutscher Marinen ist Grundlage der Patenschaftspflege als Ausdruck bürgerlicher Solidarität mit maritimer Sicherheit.  Am 21. April wird deshalb die Oberbürgermeisterin der Stadt Köln, Henriette Reker, als sechste Bürgermeinsterin der Domstadt die neue Korvette auf den Namen KÖLN taufen....

Despite many difficulties, there are still a number of highly qualified repair yards in Germany. Together, they ensure the operational readiness of the navy. The insolvency of MV Werften with sites in Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund and Bremerhaven as well as the Pella Sietas shipyard in Hamburg and the Nobiskrug shipyard in Rendsburg have once again highlighted the difficult situation in which shipbuilding in Germany has found itself for years. The construction of large merchant ships such as container freighters and tankers has completely migrated to Asia.
