thyssenkrupp Marine Systems: Carlyle exits.

thyssenkrupp CEO expresses disappointment. Oliver Burkhard, member of the Executive Board of thyssenkrupp AG and CEO of thyssenkrupp Marine Systems, announced with regret on 22 October that Carlyle will not pursue the valuation process for a possible partial sale of the marine division. For reasons of confidentiality, no further details will be provided. Mr Burkhard made it clear that Carlyle's withdrawal from the bidding process was not based on business reasons and was not related to the quality or financial performance of the company. Netherlands: From walrus to orca

Now it has been finalised. On 30 September, the CEO of the French Naval Group and the State Secretary of the Dutch Ministry of Defence signed a delivery agreement for four Barracuda submarines to the Royal Netherlands Navy in Den Helder. The procurement decision was made in March (marineforum online reported). Naval Group beat the German tkMS and the Dutch-Swedish Damen-SAAB/Kockums tandem out of the race with its newly developed Blacksword Barracuda class. Barracuda Shortfin is the diesel-electric variant of the French Navy's Suffren-class nuclear-powered submarines. The new Orka class, consisting of the boats "Orka", "Zwaardvis", "Barracuda" and "Tijgerhaai" will replace the submarines currently in service.

US Navy - New Arleigh Burke-class destroyer

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (BIW) hat mit der Kiellegung des fünften Schiffes im dritten Los der Arleigh Burke-Klasse (Flight III) einen Meilenstein im Marineschiffbau erreicht. Mit der Kiellegung beginnt der Zusammenbau des Schiffsrumpfes aus den vorgefertigten Sektionen zu einer zusammenhängenden Schiffsstruktur. Review SMM - Developments in the shipbuilding industry

The German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association provided information on current industry developments at SMM. Under the motto "SMM - driving the maritime transition", the 31st SMM focussed on the maritime energy transition and the digital transformation. Between 3 and 6 September, not only the latest technologies and solutions from the maritime industry were presented. Twelve packed exhibition halls and numerous exhibitors in the open-air areas once again impressively demonstrated the diversity of the maritime industry. 90,000 square metres, representing the entire value chain of the industry.
