Im Mai bricht die Deutsche Marine zum zweiten Mal seit 2021 in den Indopazifik auf. Das Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 beginnt! Eine Routinefahrt wird es nicht. Seit dem letzten Besuch der Fregatte BAYERN hat sich die weltpolitische Lage noch einmal deutlich verändert – in Europa wie auch in Asien. Kommentar Vor nunmehr 50 Jahren begann eine Reise, die nicht nur den Kurs unserer Bundesmarine – und später der Deutschen Marine – beeinflusst, sondern auch die Verbindung zwischen aktiven und ehemaligen Marineoffizieren durch ein einzigartiges Medium gestärkt hat – durch unser marineforum. Der Jahresbericht 2023 der Wehrbeauftragten benennt insbesondere im Personalbereich große Defizite. Beim Material hingegen setzt sich ein positiver Trend fort. Auch in ihrem 175-seitigen Jahresbericht 2023 zum Zustand der Bundeswehr zieht die Wehrbeauftragte des Deutschen Bundestages, Eva Högl, eine ernüchternde Bilanz: „Die Truppe altert und schrumpft immer weiter. Etliche Verbände haben große Personalvakanzen. Es mangelt an Material vom Großgerät bis hin zu Ersatzteilen. Durch die Abgabe an die Ukraine ist der Mangel noch größer geworden. Die Infrastruktur ist vielerorts desaströs“.
