Die japanische Reederei NS United Kaiun Kaisha Ltd. (NSU) und das brasilianische Bergbauunternehmen Vale International SA haben vereinbart, innovative Rotorsegel auf ihren Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC) zu installieren. So wird der Erzfrachter "NSU Tubarao" (400.000 Tonnen) im September 2025 mit fünf kippbaren Rotorsegeln des britischen Unternehmens Anemoi Marine Technologies ausgestattet. Das Schiff steht seit September 2020 unter einem langfristigen Chartervertrag mit Vale und gehört zur sogenannten Valemax-Klasse. Bereits im Juli 2024 ist in der Straße von Singapur der 23 Jahre alte Rohöltanker „Ceres 1“ (300.000 Tonnen) in eine Kollision mit einem Produktentanker verwickelt gewesen, bei dem beide Schiffe in Brand gerieten, die Feuer jedoch gelöscht werden konnten.
