Im neuesten Pirateriereports des IMB zeigt sich die Wirksamkeit gezielter Seeraumüberwachung. Trotzdem bleiben einige Seegebiete weiterhin nicht von Überfällen verschont. Die Statistik zur weltweiten Piraterie des International Maritime Bureau in London wird seit 1990 veröffentlicht. Sie ist das verlässlichste Barometer für aktuelle Entwicklungen, auch wenn es nicht alle Fälle erfasst. 2021 wurden dem IMB 132 Zwischenfälle gemeldet. Zum Vergleich: 2020 waren es 195, 2019 mit 162 einige weniger. Damit zeigen sich global betrachtet erfreuliche Entwicklungen. Seit einem Vierteljahrhundert bildet die Marine in Parow ihren technischen Nachwuchs aus. Die Breite und Qualität der angebotenen Trainings sucht dabei ihresgleichen. Am 28. März 2021 jährte sich die Indienststellung der Marinetechnikschule im vorpommerschen Parow zum 25. Mal. Gestartet als eine prominente Maßnahme im Projekt „Armee der Einheit“ ist sie schrittweise zur Ausbildungseinrichtung der Deutschen Marine für (fast) alle Marinetechniker aufgewachsen.
