Das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahrt (DLR in Köln) und die Bundespolizei (BPol) arbeiten im Bereich der maritimen Sicherheit enger zusammen. Die DLR-Vorstandsvorsitzende und der Präsident des Bundespolizeipräsidiums (Potsdam) unterzeichneten am 21.11.2024 einen Kooperationsvertrag in Neustadt/Holstein. In dem Vertrag geht es um die gemeinsame Erprobung und Weiterentwicklung von Fähigkeiten zum Schutz maritimer kritischer Infrastrukturen (KRITIS). Für das DLR ist Sicherheit eines der Grundbedürfnisse der globalisierten Gesellschaft. Vietnam has been adding more artificial islands since 2021. According to Radio Free Asia, the country has added more than 600 hectares of dry land around the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea in the last year alone. The largest activity took place on 'Barque Canada Reef', an atoll about 400 kilometres southwest of Spratly Island and about 630 kilometres southeast of Vietnam. The Philippine island of Palawan lies around 430 kilometres to the west. Recently, a delegation led by the Commodore of MFG3 "Graf Zeppelin", Captain Oliver Ottmüller, visited Squadron Number 5 of the New Zealand Air Force in Ohakea. As part of the exchange on the introduction and especially the operation of the new P-8A Poseidon aircraft, the naval aviators from Nordholz are establishing contacts with the various operating nations. For example, there is an intensive exchange with the American Navy, as well as with Norway and Great Britain. A year ago, a delegation from New Zealand travelled a long way to Germany to provide the naval aviators with information and assistance for their first steps with the Poseidon.
